JPG to BMP Converter
Some older programs, machines, displays and programming projects only accept BMP bitmaps. Convert JPG (or any other image) to a standard 24-bit BMP file.
JPG photos are placed in the PDF exactly as they are (no quality loss), so metadata such as the location stays inside the PDF. To remove it first, use Remove EXIF Data.
How to convert JPG to BMP
- Drop one or more JPG files into the box above — or click to choose them.
- Each file is converted to BMP straight away, right on your device.
- Download a single file, or all of them at once as a ZIP.
Why convert JPG to BMP?
- Standard 24-bit BMP that works with legacy Windows software.
- Uncompressed pixels — easy to read in microcontroller and school projects.
- Works with PNG, WebP, HEIC and other inputs too.
When this conversion makes sense
Use this for older Windows programs, embedded devices or school software that only accepts BMP.
Good to know
- BMP files are not compressed in any useful way, so they are large, and they cannot store transparency.
- No metadata is copied into the BMP: no camera data, no color profile.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of BMP does Imgovo create?
A standard uncompressed 24-bit BMP (Windows bitmap, 72 DPI). It opens in Paint, Photoshop, GIMP and practically every other program.
Why is the BMP file so large?
BMP stores 3 bytes for every pixel without compression. A 12-megapixel photo becomes a roughly 36 MB BMP. Resize it first if you need a smaller file.
Is transparency supported?
No — transparent areas are filled with white, which is what most BMP-reading software expects.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to Imgovo or anyone else.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many images as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download each file or all of them together as a ZIP.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Undo and Redo appear above the list once you add files (or press Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z). They bring back a file you removed, undo “Clear all” and return to the previous quality or format — files are converted again automatically when needed.
Is the converter free?
Yes — free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
