Why convert TIFF to PNG?

What this converter accepts and produces

InputTIFF and TIF files (uncompressed and LZW-compressed files were tested; other common compressions use the same decoder). Grayscale, palette and RGB(A) images.
OutputPNG with 8 bits per channel (RGBA), lossless.
Color depth16-bit TIFFs are reduced to 8 bits per channel. CMYK and other color models are converted to RGB without a color profile, so colors can shift slightly.
PagesOnly the first full-size page of a multi-page TIFF is converted. Small thumbnail pages are skipped.
MetadataNot copied: no embedded color profile, camera data or DPI label is carried into the PNG.
Size limitThe size is checked from the file header before the picture is unpacked. Very large scans are refused with a message instead of freezing the page.

Frequently asked questions

Is TIFF to PNG lossless?

The PNG step itself loses nothing, and a normal 8-bit RGB or grayscale TIFF keeps its pixel values exactly. It is not “every pixel in every case”: a 16-bit TIFF is reduced to 8 bits per channel, and a TIFF in another color model (CMYK, for example) is converted to RGB without its color profile. See the table above for the details.

Why is the PNG smaller than my TIFF?

Many TIFFs are stored uncompressed. PNG compresses without losing anything, so it is often 2–3× smaller.

Are my scans uploaded?

No. The TIFF decoder runs in your browser; documents never leave your device.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to Imgovo or anyone else.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many images as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download each file or all of them together as a ZIP.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Undo and Redo appear above the list once you add files (or press Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z). They bring back a file you removed, undo “Clear all” and return to the previous quality or format — files are converted again automatically when needed.

Is the converter free?

Yes — free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
