PNG to AVIF Converter
Make PNG graphics and photos smaller with AVIF. Transparent areas remain transparent, and the conversion runs in your browser.
JPG photos are placed in the PDF exactly as they are (no quality loss), so metadata such as the location stays inside the PDF. To remove it first, use Remove EXIF Data.

When this conversion makes sense
Use this to shrink PNG screenshots, graphics or photos for a website where page speed matters more than support in every program.
Good to know
- AVIF keeps transparency, so a transparent PNG stays transparent. Check that your target opens AVIF: current browsers do, and so does Safari 16 and later.
- The quality setting trades size for detail. Lower it step by step and compare before you replace your PNG originals.

Frequently asked questions
Will transparent areas stay transparent?
Yes. AVIF supports an alpha channel and Imgovo keeps it when encoding the image.
Is the output lossless?
The quality slider produces a lossy AVIF. Keep the original PNG when exact pixel values matter.
Can I open it everywhere?
Modern browsers support AVIF images, but some older apps do not. Keep the PNG for compatibility.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to Imgovo or anyone else.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many images as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download each file or all of them together as a ZIP.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Undo and Redo appear above the list once you add files (or press Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z). They bring back a file you removed, undo “Clear all” and return to the previous quality or format — files are converted again automatically when needed.
Is the converter free?
Yes — free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
