Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The colors are analysed directly in your browser. The image never leaves your device.

How are the palette colors chosen?

Imgovo groups similar colors together (the “median cut” method used by many design tools) and shows the most important groups, ordered from the most common color to the least. Each swatch is the average of its group, so it matches what you see.

How do I get the color of one exact spot?

Click (or tap) anywhere on the image. The color under your pointer appears as “Picked color” with its HEX, RGB and HSL values.

How do I copy a color code?

Click a swatch to copy its HEX code. “Copy all HEX” copies the whole palette, and “Copy CSS variables” gives you ready-to-paste code such as --color-1: #1f6fd1; for your stylesheet.

What can I use a color palette for?

Matching a website, logo or presentation to a photo, choosing brand colors from a mood board, picking paint or clothing colors, or creating consistent social media posts.

Why are transparent areas ignored?

Fully or mostly transparent pixels aren't visible, so they would only add a meaningless black or white to the palette.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Undo and Redo (buttons above the picture, or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) bring back the previous number of colors and the previously picked pixel.
