Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. All adjustments are calculated directly in your browser. The photo never leaves your device.

What do brightness, contrast and saturation do?

Brightness makes the whole photo lighter or darker. Contrast widens (or narrows) the gap between light and dark areas. Saturation makes colors more vivid — or, turned all the way down, removes them completely.

How much should I sharpen?

A little goes a long way: 20–40 is enough for most photos, especially after resizing. Too much sharpening creates bright halos around edges and makes noise more visible.

Why does the preview look slightly different from the download?

The preview is calculated at screen size so the sliders react instantly. The download is processed again at full resolution with exactly the same settings — sharpening is scaled so it looks the same on the larger image.

Can I also make the photo black and white or sepia?

Yes. Pick a style — grayscale, two-tone black & white or sepia — and combine it with any of the adjustments. Lower “Style strength” for a partly faded look.

Will my original photo be changed?

No. Imgovo creates a new file for you to download; your original stays exactly as it was.

Does editing remove metadata?

Yes. The new image is saved from the pixels only, so EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location is not included.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Undo and Redo (buttons above the settings, or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) step back through every slider and the filter style, one change at a time.
