Why Imgovo processes images locally

Most online image tools upload your file to a server, process it, and send it back. Imgovo does the work directly on your device, in your browser, using its image features plus small JavaScript and WebAssembly libraries (to open formats such as HEIC and RAW and to create AVIF). That means no waiting for uploads, no upload size caps, and the tools do not send your photos to a server. The only limit is your device's memory, so very large images may take a moment on older phones.

Frequently asked questions

Is Imgovo really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no sign-up, no daily limits and no watermark added to your images.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your images are processed in your browser, on your device, and the tools do not send them to a server. Some tools download extra components the first time you use them (for example HEIC and RAW decoders or AI models); the photo itself is not part of that.

Which image formats can I use?

Every tool opens JPG/JFIF, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos), TIFF, BMP, GIF (the single-picture tools use its first frame; the Animation Tools keep every frame), AVIF and PPM — and camera RAW files such as CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF or RW2 (see RAW to JPG). The Image Converter also saves as AVIF and JFIF, as well as JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF, PPM or PDF.

Is there a file size limit?

Imgovo doesn't set one, and there are no upload limits because nothing is uploaded. The practical limit is your device's memory: very large images (roughly 50 megapixels and up) can be slow or fail on phones and older computers. For safety, one picture is also capped at 100 megapixels (about 16.7 on iPhone and iPad) and 16,384 px on its longest side.

Will my images lose quality?

Saving as PNG does not lose quality compared with the picture as the browser decodes it (8-bit, sRGB). JPG and WebP are re-compressed each time they are saved, so tools that change the image save them at high quality (usually 92–95%), where the difference is very hard to see. For the best result, always start from your original file.

Does Imgovo work on my phone?

Yes. Imgovo works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox and Samsung Internet on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.

Do I need an internet connection?

You need it to open the page. Some tools also download extra components the first time you use them — for example the decoders for HEIC and RAW, or the AI models for Remove Background and Blur Background (about 5 to 61 MB, depending on the quality you pick). Once a tool is loaded, the processing itself runs on your device and sends nothing over the internet.

Can I use the edited images commercially?

Your images remain yours — Imgovo claims no rights to anything you create, so make sure you have the rights to the original photos you edit. The AI models used by Remove Background and Blur Background are third-party models with their own licences; check the licence notice on those tool pages before using their results commercially.

Can I edit several images at once?

Yes. The Batch Photo Editor takes up to 300 photos: crop them to one ratio, resize, add a watermark, rename and download everything as a ZIP. The Image Converter and all format converters such as HEIC to JPG also take a whole batch, and Add Watermark works on up to 100 photos. Very large batches are limited by your device’s memory. The other editing tools work on one image at a time.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Every editing tool has Undo and Redo buttons, and the shortcuts Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z (⌘Z on a Mac) work too. Changing a slider, moving a crop box or drawing an arrow each count as one step, and the history is kept only in your browser until you open another image.

Why should I remove EXIF data before sharing photos?

Photos from phones often contain hidden details such as the exact GPS location where they were taken, the date and time, and your phone model. Our Remove EXIF Data tool shows you what is inside and saves a clean copy.

Does Imgovo use cookies?
