Short answer: open Imgovo’s SVG Converter, add one or more SVG files, choose PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF, pick a size (1× to 4× or an exact width in pixels) and a transparent or colored background, then convert and download. Everything runs in your browser, so your drawings are never uploaded.

Why convert an SVG at all

An SVG is a vector drawing. It stays sharp at any size, which is why it is the best format for logos and icons on a website. But many places only accept pixel images: social media profiles, email signatures, slide decks, online stores, app stores and print shops. For those you need a PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF at a fixed size.

Which format to choose

Format Transparency Best for
PNG Yes Logos, icons and anything with sharp edges. The safest choice.
WebP Yes Smaller files for websites. Older programs may not open it.
AVIF Yes The smallest files. Older programs may not open it.
JPG No Places that only accept JPG. The background color fills the empty areas.

If you are unsure, start with PNG. For a comparison of the formats, read JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF: which image format should you use?

Step by step

  1. Open the SVG Converter and drop your SVG files on the page, click to choose them, or paste them. You can add one or many files, up to 3 MB each.
  2. Under Format, choose PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF. For JPG, WebP and AVIF a quality slider appears (90 % to start with).
  3. Under Size, choose the original size (1×), 2×, 3×, 4× or Exact width. With an exact width, type the number of pixels; the height follows the shape of the drawing.
  4. Under Background, choose Transparent or Color.
  5. Click Convert, then save the pictures one by one or use Download all (ZIP).

How the size is decided

An SVG has no fixed pixel size. Imgovo reads the width and height written in the file, or the viewBox when they are missing, and multiplies that by the scale you choose. For a picture that must be exactly 512 pixels wide, use Exact width instead of a scale.

The finished picture can be up to 8000 px on a side and 32 megapixels in total. That limit protects your browser from running out of memory.

Text and fonts

Text in an SVG is drawn with a font. If the font is not installed on your device, another font is used and the result can look different from your design program. Imgovo shows a note when the drawing contains text. The safe fix is to convert the text to outlines (paths) in your drawing program before you export the SVG. Files that need outside fonts or outside pictures cannot load them in the converter.

What is removed for safety

An SVG file can contain more than a drawing. Before drawing, Imgovo removes scripts, embedded web pages, links to other sites and event handlers, and a notice under the file tells you how many items were taken out. Shapes, colors, gradients, clipping and embedded pictures stay.

Many files at once

Choose several SVG files and each one is converted with the same settings. This is useful for a whole icon set. Save the results one by one, or take them all in one ZIP file.

Tips

  • Make it larger than you think you need. A 2× picture can be scaled down without blur; a small picture cannot be scaled up cleanly.
  • Make the file smaller first. If the SVG came from a drawing program, the SVG Optimizer can remove editor data before you convert.
  • Need an ICO or favicon? Use the Favicon Generator instead; it accepts SVG logos directly.

Privacy

The SVG is drawn and converted in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. To learn how Imgovo handles files, read Are online image converters safe?

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an SVG to PNG without losing quality?

An SVG is a drawing, so it has no fixed pixel size. Choose PNG and pick the size you need (1×, 2×, 3×, 4× or an exact width). Imgovo draws the SVG at that size, so edges stay sharp and transparency is kept.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes, with PNG, WebP or AVIF. JPG cannot be transparent, so Imgovo fills the background with the color you choose.

How is the size of the picture decided?

Imgovo uses the width and height written in the SVG, or the viewBox when they are missing, and multiplies it by the scale you choose. With an exact width, the height follows the shape of the drawing.

Why does the text look different after converting?

If the SVG uses a font that is not installed on your device, another font is used. Convert the text to outlines in your drawing program, or install the font, before converting.

Is there a size limit?

An SVG can be up to 3 MB. The finished picture can be up to 8000 px on a side and 32 megapixels in total, so that your browser does not run out of memory.

Is my SVG uploaded?

No. The SVG is drawn and converted in your browser, and nothing leaves your device.
